News for 14 August 2022
Filming in churchyard
ITV will be filming in the churchyard, by permission of the PCC, on 22-24 August inclusive for the series ‘Grace’. Unfortunately, that means we will need to cancel the Bible Study and Coffee, Cake & Company on Tuesday 23rd August, as the crew will need exclusive access to the church building too. The positives are that we will attract some welcome publicity and a generous location fee!
Christmas is coming…
A meeting will be held (location TBC) on Tuesday 23rd August
at 1200 to discuss arrangements for a Christmas Festival 1-3 December. All welcome to share ideas over a coffee. Dawn Davidson
Happy Birthday…
to Lady Jean Wilson, a long-time member of our congregation, who will be 100 years old on 17th August. Our congratulations to her!
Coffee, Cake & Company (not on 23rd August)
A weekly coffee morning on Tuesdays from 1100-1230, in church. Volunteers to help would be very welcome, please – not every week, but on a rota: please sign up on the sheet in the porch. If anyone would like to come early at 1015, there will be a half hour Bible Study too: we’re working through the letter to the Romans.
New Village Taxi Service – Handy Travel
Gary from Handy Hardware and his colleague Ross have set up a taxi business and are happy, if available, to bring people to church, take them for hospital appointments, or make longer journeys such as station or airport runs. The number is: 07361 209 395 or e-mail: bookings@handytravel.cab. People might find it reassuring to know who the driver is going to be.
Patricia Fiddler RIP
There will be a service of thanksgiving for Pat’s life in church this Wednesday, 17th August at 1100.
Volunteers
As things return to something resembling normality, we would like to rebuild our team of volunteers. We are especially looking for people to serve at the altar, arrange flowers in church, assist with cleaning, serve coffee on Sundays and Tuesdays, etc. Please do think and pray about offering some time to enable our community life to thrive.
Knit & Natter
The group meets on Wednesdays at 1900 in church. New members always welcome. We knit and we natter. You don’t even have to knit! Just come along and socialise if you’d like to.
