Singalong film night in church – ‘Singing in the Rain’
Friday 25th February at 1900.  Entry £10 – all proceeds to go to church funds.

Thursday Eucharists
To make it a bit easier for some people to attend, from 3rd March the Thursday Eucharist will be celebrated at 1200 instead of 1000.

Ash Wednesday – 2nd March
Please bring along last year’s palm crosses to church in the next couple of weeks ready for burning for Ash Wednesday. A Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes will be celebrated at 1900.

Healing Services
These will resume on the first Sunday of each month at 1700, beginning on Sunday 6th March, to coincide with the beginning of Lent and the second anniversary (almost) of the first national lockdown of the pandemic.

Can we help?

Dear Fr Anthony

As you know, we work in partnership with the St Anne’s Trust to provide breakfast and lunch to homeless and vulnerable people from our church hall. The numbers show no sign of reducing.

The gas cooker in our hall (owned by St Anne’s) is on its last legs. Due to the cost of a replacement gas appliance and flue requirements etc., we have decided to go for electric instead.

St Anne’s will purchase the cooker and have grant funding in place. St Mary’s will support with all the removal costs, installation, a new 32 amp fuse board, wiring, sockets, connection, and a stand for the new oven and a stainless steel table for three induction hobs.

The cost to St Mary’s is estimated at around £3,100. We have over £1,100 set aside from our Christmas appeal and a further private donation of £1,000 has been earmarked. It would be great to be able to raise the remainder as soon as we can to get these new facilities in place.

I am asking if St Margaret’s might feel able to make a contribution for what you will know is a real need in our part of the city.

Thank you so much.

With every blessing
Fr Andrew Woodward Vicar of St Mary’s, Kemp Town

Medicine blister pack recycling
Unfortunately, due to a lack of volunteers, we can no longer recycle blister packs at St Margaret’s Church. The only re-cycling point in Brighton is at the SUPERDRUG store at 77 Western Road, close to Waitrose.

Jubilee Songs of Praise
As part of the celebrations of Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th Jubilee, we will be holding a Songs of Praise with film reel and images on Sunday 5th June at 1500. Please start thinking about choosing your favourite hymn, and be ready to tell us why it means so much to you!
