Church Cleaning for Christmas
Our thanks to all who came and helped on Friday to prepare the church for Christmas. We had 18 volunteers who mopped, dusted, hoovered and polished to give the building and furniture a good clean. Thank you for all the help. A tremendous turnout!
Special thanks to Elaine for keeping us going with teas, coffees and mince pies; also Mike and Rowland for helping to move the nativity figures onto the grass at the front of the church so we could set up the Nativity scene; again to Rowland for connecting the carols to the lychgate for all passers-by to enjoy; and to Sarah for cutting out many, many doves! Thanks to all who decorated the tree generously given by Deveson Greengrocers. It was lovely to have so many helpers and we really do appreciate it. Dawn and Heather
… raised £283 for the Martlets and a similar amount for church funds.
Church Flowers 2023 – Christmas
Our flower arrangements, for sometime now, have been floral foam-free, and use traditional methods of chicken wire/pin-holders, with the flowers being in water. This creates a more free flowing arrangement with a less formal shape.
Our next workshop is on Saturday 23rd December (the day before Christmas Eve) 1000 to 1200, to prepare flowers for Christmas. The aim of the workshop is to assist those who would like to arrange flowers and who may want some tuition, guidance or support. If you would like to bring some foliage along with your scissors, and have a go, you will be most welcome. We will be using white flowers (supplied) and gold accessories to incorporate into your design. Please email Duncan with any queries and confirm attendance, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to sponsor the Christmas flowers in memory of a late loved one please enclose your donation in an envelope marked ‘for the Christmas flowers’ with your name and the name of the person/s you wish to be remembered and hand in at the church office or to the Churchwardens by Sunday 17 December 2023. Thank you for your continued support. Duncan Ward
The group meets in church on Tuesday mornings at 1000 for an hour or so of discussion, reflection and fellowship, currently working through the Gospel of John. Do feel free to dip in and out.
