Jubilee Songs of Praise
As part of the celebrations of Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th Jubilee, we will be holding a Songs of Praise with film reel and images on Sunday 5th June at 1500. Please start thinking about choosing your favourite hymn, and be ready to tell us why it means so much to you!

Coffee, Cake & Company
A weekly coffee morning on Tuesdays from 1100-1230, in church, beginning with freshly made cakes courtesy of Shane’s Kitchen. Volunteers to help would be very welcome, please – not every week, but on a rota. If anyone would like to come early at 1015, there will be a half hour Bible Study too.

Rosemary Tee RIP
Rosemary’s funeral is in church tomorrow, Monday 23rd May, at 1330. If anyone would wish to lay a flower at the altar in memory of Rosemary during the service, her favourite colours were purple, pink and white.

Altar Servers
We intend soon to resume having altar servers assist at the Eucharist on Sunday. Thank you to members of the team who are returning, and thank you to Joan who has decided to step down for her past contributions. If anyone would be interested in joining the team, please have a word with Fr Anthony or Michael Chowen.

Greetings from Peter and Pamela Wright…
who have this week moved to Epsom to be closer to family. They send good wishes to everyone at St Margaret’s and hope that all goes well with the Development Project.

Knit & Natter
The group meets on Wednesdays at 1900 in church. New members always welcome. We knit and we natter. You don’t even have to knit! Just come along and socialise if you’d like to.

NOTICES FOR 24TH APRIL 2022

Annual Vestry & Parochial Church Meetings
This year’s APCM (rather like an AGM) will be on Sunday 1st May after the 1000 Parish Eucharist. We will elect Churchwardens to serve for the coming year and members of the Parochial Church Council (where there are vacancies – posts are usually held for three years). Annual reports and accounts are on the APCM page at the bottom of our website homepage. There are a few inspection copies available at the back of church for those who don’t have internet access. Please don’t take them away. The size of the accounts reports this year and the high cost of postage means that we are not sending out copies in the post.

Healing Service…
Next Sunday, and every first Sunday of the month, at 1700.

Community Coffee Morning
We are planning to resume a weekly coffee morning on Tuesdays from 1100-1230, in church, beginning on Tuesday 3rd May. MUSIC AT ST MARGARET’S

Saturday 30th April 2022 at 1800
The Girls’ Choir of St Catharine’s College, Cambridge
Works by Purcell, Fauré and Pergolesi, also songs by Richard Rodney Bennett. Organ pieces played by the College Organ Scholar. Concluding with songs on scientific themes, from the choir’s project ‘Stem in Song’. Tickets £10.

‘an exceptional girls’ choir’  The Observer

Founded in 2008, the St Catharine’s College Girls’ Choir was the first college-based choir for girls in the UK, breaking with 900 years of tradition and setting a precedent which has been followed by several other institutions both here and abroad. The choir provides a unique and invaluable musical experience for girls aged 8 to 15; with many girls continuing to age 18 in the mixed-voice College Choir.

The choir sings weekly in the College’s 18th century Chapel, as well as giving regular concerts, and its repertoire extends from the early Middle Ages to the 21st century, including music both sacred and secular.

The choir is currently made up of 20 choristers and 8 probationers, aged between eight and fifteen, and are drawn from local schools. The choir is semi-independent of the mixed-voice student College Choir.

The choir has given performances in such distinguished venues as St Paul’s Cathedral, St David’s Hall, Cardiff and St John’s, Smith Square, and has sung services in several UK Cathedrals.  The girls have toured to the USA and throughout Europe. and are regularly asked to participate in major choral/orchestral works such as Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Mahler’s Third Symphony, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius and Holst’s The Planets. The choir has made several appearances on BBC Radio, including a special edition of Radio 3’s The Choir with opera star Sarah Connolly as part of the celebrations marking International Womens’ Day; and a former head chorister of the choir was awarded BBC Young Chorister of the Year.
